Write Away

Five Lives epitomises the therapeutic benefits of writing.  The process of writing about their lives has helped the authors to revisit fragmented, traumatic memories of the past and see them in the light of a new day.

Often we don’t really know our own feelings and thoughts until we put them into words. Writing things down helps us to distance ourselves from events or feelings and can enable us to see them more clearly, cope with the emotional fall-out and move on.

On this website, you will find some guidance to help you try ‘writing for therapy’ yourself.  Remember that although our five authors have chosen to share their stories with the world, no one else has to see your writing, unless you want them to.  Just pick up a pen and have a go – you never know where it might take you …
